Interview with Metropolitan Kallistos Ware on ABC radio's Sunday Nights

© Sunday Nights on ABC Radio (Australia). http://www.abc.net.au/radio/programs/sundaynights/ Noel Debien, ABC Religion and Ethics Unit. For the very first time in over 1200 years Eastern Orthodox bishops of the world are meeting together this month with their leader Bartholomew, the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople. Not every single bishop has been invited, but the Orthodox Primates from the 14 traditional Orthodox churches of the world, together with those from the many new regions will be gathering in their hundreds. The meeting will take place on the Greek Island of Crete rather than in Istanbul (Constantinople) owing to modern day diplomatic tensions. For more than 274 million Orthodox Christians in the world, this meeting may mean significant change in the way their church is led, and how it relates to the rest of the world. Eastern Orthodox Bishop and Metropolitan Kallistos Ware explains the significance. He is perhaps the most famous of contemporary Eastern Orthodox theologians.
